WAV files in UBUNTU 5.10

This is a BIGGER PROBLEM than it seemed at first - and I
have entered a full report in the Ubuntu Bugzilla thingy - 

1. WAV files don't play.

2. See my earlier post about double-speed playback of AIF
files.

It may also be of interest to the MC/RR community that
Ubuntu is now estimated to be the most popular Linux
distro.
