Yep, sounds just like Ken's circumstance.  It seems specific to the 
iBook; I haven't seen this issue on a PowerBook (OS X 10.3.7) or my G4 
mini-tower (OS X 10.2.8).

Sounds like maybe a firmware update may be in the works....
