IMHO:

Open from menu in IDE as well as open/go from script should respect 
the saved stack style.

Other opening commands (toplevel, palette,...) should overwrite it not doubt.

It would be plausible for IDE that option-open from menu enforces 
toplevel so one can easily open a stylized stack to get into it. Or 
this could be added as a new menu item.
