Ah, but it seems to only work until you call "answer printer" -- run this:

on mouseup
  set the printPaperSize to 444,444
  answer the printPaperSize
  answer printer
  answer the printPaperSize
  --
  set the printPaperSize to 444,444
  answer the printPaperSize
end mouseup
