Hefty new fees?

Others have already very competently answered most of your questions, but I
thought it might reassure you to hear again from an official source: you
have definitely misunderstood our pricing and we certainly wouldn't even
attempt to skin you for $1200 a year!

In your situation, you can simply renew your license as an MC cross grade,
for $299, you will get Revolution and the MetaCard code at this price, for a
further year of upgrades. We've never enforced a policy of making you
upgrade the minute your license expires, in fact we're quite happy to let
you renew months or even a year or so after it has expired in some cases. If
we change this policy we'll be sure and let everyone know.

If you want to look at cheaper options, you might even find our new pricing
beneficial to you. You could buy a Studio license, plus an Express for
Windows, at only $274 under the current special offer. Then you could
maintain these licenses as you need to, with incremental upgrades when a new
release comes out that you actually need.

The last thing we need is unhappy customers who feel they've got a raw deal.
We do our best to lean over backwards to accommodate everyone, whilst still
maintaining a revenue stream that allows us to continue to develop the
product for everyone's benefit.

I hope you feel better about the whole thing now. I apologise on Kevin's
behalf for your not having received a response, as someone mentioned he's
currently on a well deserved vacation.
