Movie synching

I have a QT movie with an animated video track and a MIDI audio track. 
On a G4 running OS 9, the tracks synch well together. On a G4 running OS 
X, the video lags behind the audio noticeably, sometimes up to a second 
or more. Has anyone seen this before? Is it QT or incorrect editing?
