WinXP file paths

Are there any differences in the way file paths are structured in WinXP 
as opposed to Win98? I don't have a copy of XP to test on, but it looks 
like a script may not be finding a file, and I wonder if it is due to 
differences in how file paths are constructed.

Or are there any other differences to be aware of when referring to a 
file on disk?
