dissolve effect

Hi all,

In experimenting with different visual effects for going to cards, it seems 
that the dissolve effect doesn't work.

for example:
   visual effect checkerboard
   go to cd "myCard"

works as expected, but
   visual effect dissolve
   go to cd "myCard"

pauses (I suspect to "do" the effect) then goes to the card, but the effect 
is not seen...?
The screen in not locked. I get the same behavior if I type these two lines 
into the Message Box.

Any insights?
