Introduction/comment on taxonomy question

We should not forget about the lower levels in Bloom's system. A
student who cannot multiply or find a verb is going to have great
difficulty reaching the synthesis level in trigonometry or making
choices of rhetorical style in their own writing. We're finding that
out in Language Arts. After a decade or two of teaching the students
to apply such higher order writing skills as extended metaphor and
circular structure, without teaching about nouns and verbs, our
students can't construct grammatically correct sentences.
On the other hand, I admit that it would be satisfying if I could
write more stacks that addressed the high levels of Bloom.
