papers on education

Marielle,

I read your article. I like the emphasis on learning content
distribution. I'm worried that many teachers are so used to 'buying'
content, or simply deploying what has been bought for their district,
that they may need a few examples of how this could benefit them.

For instance, how to integrate the experience they gain from year to
year and how to capture insights for future classes. (I guess they
would call that knowledge management in the business world).

I have seen so many teachers work so hard on classroom management,
that creating something new seems totally foreign (and often
unappreciated or not welcomed by the system they are in) ....and
even to ask them to read something or look up websites can be
overwhelming. It has to fit what they are already doing, extend
their knowledge and help them manage the huge task of nurturing
increasingly diverse learners.

Several teachers I've talked to are heavily scheduled for
professional development workshops and conferences this summer. But
how do they organize all that new information? Would love to hear
from more teachers about what their stresses are and then maybe we
could brainstorm how Runtime might help.

Thanks for all your work on the wiki!

Warmest regards,

Lisa Westbrook

Dear all,

I have started to write papers/manifesto to argue for thick web
applications for learning content distribution (thick appl. means
that you have access to the interface widgets that you usually find
in desktop applications) and to argue for the adoption of revolution.

This is a very early draft, heavily based on software reviews, users
comments or runtime release notes. Comments, improvements, and
suggestions are welcome. You can comment on the page itself, or on
this list.
